OMG! I haven 't done a review in years but just had to for this place. The amin courses were delicious but quite similar to other restaurants in the region but the starter, called Picana, and only found in this area of the Pyrenees (apparently) was amazing. It was kinda like jamon Iberico but beef and not salted during the aging process; served on the most wonderful, perfectly suited toasted bread, with a thin layer of tomato concassé and olive oil drizzled on top. Worth driving miles for. They had a different starter called 'cecina ' which seemed wonderful and quite similar but we didn 't try it. Should have done. The owner and waiter didn 't speak any English or French but were extremely patient with my efforts in Spanish. Obviously they love their food.

Casa Diego is one of the (two) restaurants located in the little town called Gavín, in Aragon Pyrenees, in the North of Spain. We stayed here three nights and the two lasts nights we went to the same restaurant, which was great! It is a typical asador (Spanish restaurant, where you can eat different types of meat). The first night we tasted foie and Basque Txuleton (wonderful both dishes) and the second day we shared scrambled eggs with ham and foie, mushrooms and truffle croquettes and a solomillo (another part of meat), gain all excellent! It was a very good idea return to this restaurant. Each day we drank a red wine from Pirineos Winery (D.O. Somontano): the first day Señorio de Lazán Reserva and the second day a Marborè (the name of a Pyrenees, as the name of the winery, mountain). Great dinner after a large trekkings! Totally recommendable!
