Cinecitta' Bistrot - BERNALDA

I eat here about twice a week and it’s extremely good. They have a large choice and the staff are multilingual. Great choice of food and it’s very consistent. Highly recommend it to everyone.

The food and service was nothing extraordinary but ok. Tables outside a bit cramped so, you’re inhaling the cigarette smoke from the next table during the whole dinner. Not nice. Also, no privacy while talking. Prices on the higher end and very high markups on wines. The whole atmosphere a bit pretentious for what it really is. Just because tourists are lured in by the “charm” of the Palazzo Margherita, I guess. To be honest, there are so many other more authentic places around Basilicata. Don’t get fooled by the fake hype.

Just arrived in Bernalda via 3 trains from Lecce and stopped for a late, light lunch. Sun was high don’t know how the staff manage in long sleeves, jacket and tie the maitre d’ suggested we sit inside as the outside seating was just about to come into full sun. Good call. Impeccable service, delicious salads and cold drinks each offering was explained from the amuse bouches to the long proved bread in the pizza oven. Spent a nice couple of hours trying to recognise the Hollywood stars from the black and white photos around the room. 38 euros for beer, soft drink, 2 salads, cover charge and macchiato and tip. We shall be back to sample dinner.

Small bar where you can breathe the atmosphere of Cinecittà in the 1950s, from the furnishings, to the photos to the walls, to the uniforms worn by the staff. Everything is very well-kept, even the bathrooms, where to dry your hands are available small disposable cotton wipes, all meticulously rolled.

Cozy place, excellent cuisine, staff prepared and very kind room. Recommended.
