Kim Sat Got - Beaverton

I've always loved Korean food, especially Gamjatang. Every place I go I look for a good Korean place with good Gamjatang that would rival the ones I had in Korean Town in Toronto. However, I can say that at Koreana I found the gamjatang that I’ve always wanted ever since I moved away from Toronto. Their gamjatang tasted great with a lot of substance, lots of meat and veggies at great price. This is one of the best Korean restaurants I’ve been to!

Korean cuisine has quickly become my favorite type of ethnic food. Each restaurant offers such unique side dishes with the meals. This particular place has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The service was not only quick but also very friendly. I received my food incredibly fast. I ordered the Spicy Pork for $19, which was generous enough to provide two meals—my husband will enjoy the leftovers tomorrow. The side salads were possibly the best I've tasted around the Portland area. I love mixing most of them with a piece of meat and a little bit of rice on a spoon; it’s just perfection—both delicious and nutritious. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. From what I could see, about one-third to one-half of their menu features soup options. It would be great to visit with a larger group next time and order their combination meal listed on the back page, which includes four different items for a huge feast. My family will definitely enjoy that when we come back!

I visited this restaurant the day after Thanksgiving and enjoyed a delicious hot bowl for my meal. It was fantastic! However, today, the day after Christmas, I had the same meal served in a plain, cold bowl. It was underwhelming.

Additionally, we ordered a dumpling or wonton soup, which came with a rich broth and dumplings packed with meat. The side dishes were equally impressive: a seafood salad in a light vinegar dressing, sweet soy-marinated potatoes, kimchi, bean sprouts with Korean pepper, broccoli in rice vinegar, and cucumber in a Korean red pepper vinegar dressing. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I can’t wait to return!
