Athenian Gardens - Beaufort

The food was absolutely delicious, but I would have liked to see a wider selection of drink options. Nonetheless, this didn't detract from the overall fantastic experience!

What a fantastic place! The son manages the front of the restaurant while his mother prepares delicious meals in the back. It's located directly across from Beaufort Memorial Hospital and is only open for lunch from Monday to Saturday. The gyro pita was enormous and priced under $8! I noticed other customers ordering a variety of soups, Greek salads, and daily specials. I can’t wait to return!

A quaint little spot with a rustic vibe. I was warmly welcomed by the owner’s son, who invited me to sit down and assured me that his mother would prepare a fantastic lunch for me. I ordered the gyro plate, which came with a Greek salad and brown rice. The food arrived quickly and was quite tasty. However, the "brown rice" was not the typical kind—I suspect it was either white or parboiled rice cooked in what seemed like beef broth. It was delicious, but not exactly what I expected from brown rice. After I finished my meal, the son surprised me with a complimentary baklava, which was possibly the best I’ve had in a long time. I will definitely return the next time I’m in the area.

GEM in Beaufort! This is the REAL DEAL for authentic Greek cuisine. The most gracious, warm-hearted mother and sonship. If you go through the door of this unpretentious “taste”, feel like family. This is a small, stone, inconvenient place for solid Greek foods. It is small and quiet inside, ideal for a business lunch or catch up with an old friend. Everything is cooked to so patiently order. The portions are generous and their prices are so reasonable. It is worth the 75-minute drive from Charleston!! I wish I could eat here every day. I can't wait to go back.

Hidden among the trees is a gem. Finally found local Greek food prepared fresh. I had a gyro sandwich with a cup of chicken orzo w/ lemon soup it was delicious. Definitely coming back. Just limited hours 11-3 M-F.
