We arrived at the Zero restaurant last Saturday, around 6.30pm,and ordered per dinner drinks, only to be told that the beer ordered from the menu was not available. Fine, a quick substitute and we were happy. Things then got worst, we ordered a bottle of Shiraz red again from the menu, and again we find it unavailable but were offered a bottle of Cab Sauvignon, ok but puzzling. We then ordered 2 dozen oysters killpatrick, but were told only a dozen oysters were available, ok fine! A few pieces of garlic bread to make up the shortfall. We also ordered 2 New York steak cut steaks and the surf n turf for mains. Several of the meals on the menu were not available, even a special dish from the black board wasn’t available. While waiting for the entrées to turn up we finished the red and decided to purchase another bottle. To our surprise the Zero bar had run out of red wine, every red except a Pinot. No apology or offer to go get some reds, no service at all. We decided to pop out to the local bottle-O and get a bottle of red. On my return the entrées had turned up but only 9 of the dozen oysters made it to our table, and they were rather small. There was no garish or rock salt with the oysters, only the oysters on an old dinner plate. Presentation does count! We raised this as a concern with staff and were informed that the Cook Manager would see us about it later. After another long wait the mains came out although my steak was gristley, I may have been cranky after walking to the bottle—O. Anyway, after finishing most of the mains the cook came to see us and couldn’t explain how 3 oysters disappeared between the kitchen and our table and he wasn’t responsible for the wine delivery not occurring the day before. Who is responsible! We also pointed out that most restaurants provided water with the table and the presentation of the food was rather ordinary. The cook generously removed the oysters from a bill, but was becoming angry with us complaining so we stopped. One of us had dessert and it was good. We paid, however, as locals, we won’t be back.
