It turned out it was. Canal side setting with amazing covered outdoor seating areas. Good food and drink. Helpful pleasant staff. It was sunny which for this year was a bonus! Well worth a visit.
Just for lunch. limited menu so we chose fish and chips, also meat pie. Many items too expensive. Staff ok but didn't really engage with us. Fish was from the freezer and under done meat pie was mince
Called in while passing, never been before. Had the steak night special, was excellent. Great staff. Went to leave a tip after paying to be told that there's no need as they add a service charge on !! Not happy at the fact we weren't told about this charge first off. While I don't begrudge leaving a tip, it should be pointed out that there is a 10% charge on top of your final bill.
We enjoyed another Sunday Lunch here at The Hop Pole. It was very busy as usual the meal was excellent with a variety of vegetables and gravy, no extras to pay for. The landlady is very welcoming and the staff very efficient.
The pub is gorgeous, adorned with tasteful decor and featuring a fantastic outdoor seating area. However, the menu is quite limited with few options for main meals, which was disappointing. There were no specials available either. Despite the homemade chips, they lacked freshness and were pale and chewy, as if they had been stored for a few days. The staff also seemed inattentive. It's a shame because the pub and its surroundings are beautiful, but the food left us feeling underwhelmed.
