A good cafeteria type place for quick rice and beans whilst in transit. Friendly efficient service. The tables could be a bit cleaner though.

Food is really good, and boy do you get big portion sizes here! A lot of the plates can be shared between two people.

After a day at Dinosaur Provincial Park, we were very hungry. So hungry we didn't want to wait until we got back to Calgary. That said, we also didn't want to eat just anywhere. And that's where Armando's comes in. The special's on offer were outstanding (cabbage rolls and chicken Sambuca). Our Caesar salad was perfect (no stinting on the garlic or the Parmesan). In summer, Armando has his own vegetable garden nearby -- testimony to his commitment to "absolutely fresh."So, if you find yourself in east Alberta -- say on your way to Medicine Hat or returning to Calgary after a day of dinosaur hunting -- be sure to stop at Armando's in Bassano. You will be delighted!

Being away from my parents, I don't get to eat the wide variety of Italian foods that my father was capable of making, as I am not even close to his ability in the kitchen. When we traveled to Armando's last year on my birthday however, it brought back memories on being back home.First of all, the fact that there is a place called Bassano here in Alberta, was just way too coincidental not travel to, thus when I saw that there was a fairly highly-rated Italian restaurant in this little village, there was no way I would not stop by. Armando himself greeted us very warmly and his Italian is very good. His manager was a fine lady who did an excellent job of taking care of us and with so much in terms of TVs, bar games, etc., the place has a great and inviting ambiance. The food was incredibly fresh, very tasty and truly, Italian-style. The Calamari were fantastic, the pizza was delicious and the manicotti were absolutely special. The trip out to Bassano was worth it and if you're east of Calgary and in the area, stop by and have some great food with awesome hosts!
