The Wellington Arms

I requested a 7:00 pm reservation, but nothing was available until 7:45 pm. When I arrived, there were only four other diners seated. We were placed by the front door and a drafty window. The food was average considering the high prices. My meal, which cost £30, ended up totaling £92, as the server used the card machine for a contactless payment and added a 10% gratuity without my consent. I only realized this after examining the receipt at home. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant.

The Wellington Arms is outstanding in every way. From the quality of the ingredients and cooking to the gorgeous wines, it was a wonderful experience for all the senses. The location is beautiful and tranquil, with a warm and welcoming charm that continues into a cozy 'old pub' ambience. The main building and accommodation are well-maintained and beautifully presented. The professionalism and care of the staff shine through in every aspect of the experience. The Wellington Arms is a genuine gem, head and shoulders above other establishments of its type. It exudes quality, care, and attention to detail without being pretentious. It is quietly wonderful and the perfect balance of excellence. Our only regret is not staying for two nights, but we will definitely be back.

This is such a great restaurant I've ended up going twice in one week. Between both visits, I had the excellent home-grown stuffed courgette flowers, a perfectly cooked ribeye, fantastic chicken potpie with foraged mushrooms, plus an exquisite elderflower trifle and some of the homemade ice creams. Plus some of the best brownies I've ever tried to take away. Everything on the menu is cooked perfectly. It's an especially nice touch that a lot of produce is home-grown and some available to buy and take away with you. To top it all off, the service is friendly and really welcoming, plus a great drinks list. This has comfortably become my new favourite place to eat.

At last, somewhere grown up to eat. Fab food and service. Peaceful surroundings and everyone dressed appropriately! Can’t recommend it enough
