Anchor Fish - Barrow-in-Furness

I tried the special dish Yung and found it to be delicious. It was served promptly and with great customer service. The prices were also reasonable.

I went at lunch time, and this place is a fish and chip shop and Chinese. I ordered Chinese and was met with a pretty negative response, almost talking me out of ordering as they said cooking would take a long time. Anyway, I stuck to my order and it really did take a long time... I got crispy wan tons which were really chewy, salt and pepper special mix which was over cooked so it was extremely dry, beef in Cantonese sauce which was basically crispy chilli beef (which is not what I wanted and it wasn't good, regardless of what it was meant to be) and egg fried rice which was ok.as I had a long wait, I was able to observe the fish and chip orders that were going out and to be fair, the fish, chips, battered sausages, scalloped potatoes etc actually looked like decent food and there was a steady stream of customers. I may go back to try that side of the menu, but it is highly unlikely I'd get chinese from there again.

I'm alwatys impressed by the level of service received here, the staff are always friendly and orders are always processed quickly and efficiently. The food is always very good, we normally go for the chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce, fried rice and beef with mushrooms which is really yummy!

Best food around I have been going for years and not one bad thing to say about the anchor. Staff are friendly , food Is amazing not like most chippy and Chinese where the food is greasy. The anchor food is so tasty and fresh. I travel from askam to get a takeaway from there.

The takeaway menu is great, food is good and varied as China Town in London. All made with the best ingredients and no MSG. In a different galaxy to the three other Chinese takeaways in Barrow. I only tried them as the Anchor is closed on Monday nights. The last was dreadful and barely edible hence me taking the time to praise the Anchor and wish it was open on Mondays!!
