Il Gelso Nero - BARRAFRANCA

A tiny restaurant on a tiny street that opens up like a tardis inside. We were there at 8pm for opening so the first in. The waiters all wore masks and were very attentive. There were hand sanitiser stations all in line with Covid safety. The menu was only in Italian which challenged our language skills but the food was superb and the desserts to die for. It was worth every penny. Thank you.

After we took the elevator to the terrace on the first floor, we had a an okay pizza; nothing special. But the waitress was the worst ever: she was drinking, eating and smoking with some other guests and paid no attention to us.

Il Gelso Nero is a great family restaurant with great potential to grow. We were there twice and both times were shockingly gorgeous. We had the tumminía pizza topped with yellowfin tuna, buffalo mozzarella, cicory and almonds, the cold tomato, burrata and red and white prawns soup, the melanzane parmigiana breaded on a bed of tasty basil tomato sauce, the octupus and pealed aubergine purée. the kids had baby sized pizza. All was delicious. Accompanied by a well selected Etna Bianco wine that wash all down in a very pleasant style. Highly recommended

Great food and quality. from the appetizer to dessert was all perfect. local where the owner makes sure to have the green pass for everyone's safety.

Situated on the High Street. Small and cosy with excellent service and food. Lots of choice on both the food and wine menu's. Very reasonable prices. Polite staff and reasonable waiting times for food. Ideal to book before hand but if you go early enough you can get a table. Will definitely go back
