Aim for street parking across the street; the lot next to the restaurant charges a fee. **Food:** - **Escargot:** Solid choice – I would order another appetizer next time. - **Ribeye:** Absolutely divine! The steak was tender, juicy, and beautifully marbled. I also ordered a baked potato and Caesar salad, both of which were delicious. - **Filet:** Another fantastic dish. I usually prefer fattier cuts like ribeye, but this filet was incredibly juicy and delicate. - **Rack of Lamb:** Cooked to perfection. I appreciated the option to have it served lollipop-style at my request. - **Veal:** Also perfectly cooked. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of veal, but I found the flavor and tenderness impressive. **Desserts:** We sampled all three house desserts. The cheesecake was standard, but the other two options—malva pudding and South African kap dutch—were excellent and highly recommended. They came with melted butter, adding a nice touch. **Drinks:** We tried the Manhattan and Apple-tini, both were very delicious. The drinks here are strong, and I appreciated the option to choose the brand of liquor. **Service:** The service was consistently excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive, and we were greeted by the owner/chef at the end of our meal. **Ambiance:** The ambiance gets a 5-star rating for its unique vintage steakhouse vibe. The exterior may seem uninviting, but stepping inside reveals a stylish steakhouse. The background music added to the enjoyable experience. **Overall:** A fantastic night of great food, drinks, and exceptional service. The ribeye was the standout dish of the evening. I recommend arriving early or late for free street parking!
Our server was amazing. she took care of the history of the building and shared every detail she knew. she showed as pictures of the old card room. That was great. eating was amazing. Maybe a little bit salty. but still brilliant!
This restaurant is the best in bakersfield and one of the best I have eaten. we celebrated the holiday with the parents of my wife, her sister and her husband. I had the lamming frame and the others had different steaks; new york and fillets. everything was excellent. the cocktails were great (old fashion and wine). my father-in-law is 92 and on oxygen, the personal took their time to help him in the table and to secure his oxygen tank. this is an interesting restaurant in which the entrance in a street and in the ground unmaked, art like a speech-easy . you will find the red door and its pure! also thanks to the owner/chef and the entire staff for a great evening. I apologise for not remembering the names of all those who made us so big. I live in la, but we're planning to make the trip to my next birthday.
I was looking for a nice steak and found something that far exceeded my expectations. if they ever get the chance to dinate at the horse in the alley, they will not be disappointed. the personal is fanominal. that was great. the drinks are top notch. the bar was as fantastic as she was foxy. Thanks to michigan <3 ;0)
We had a fantastic experience at this upscale, intimate restaurant. The service and menu met our expectations perfectly, and we felt we got great value for what we paid. We regret waiting so long to visit, but we will definitely return.
