The food and service at this restaurant are excellent. I would definitely recommend it. I had a great dining experience and would suggest trying it out for dinner.

I recently moved to Bainbridge Island from San Francisco and decided to try out the Japanese restaurant that has been touted as the best in the area. However, I was disappointed to find out that it is actually the only Japanese restaurant on the island. The sashimi was served warm, which was unappetizing, and the O Toro, which was priced at $24 for two pieces, was not enjoyable due to the presence of tough, inedible membranes throughout. The spicy tuna in the spicy tuna roll was over-mashed, resulting in a paste-like texture. Coming from San Francisco, where there are numerous outstanding Japanese restaurants to choose from, I was surprised by the lackluster quality of the sushi at this establishment. The five star reviews must have been from people who are not familiar with good sushi or did not order sushi at all. Adding to my disappointment, the woman working at the sushi bar was rude and disrespectful. I also want to clarify that the "fresh" salmon mentioned in another review was actually previously frozen, as this is necessary to eliminate any parasites. Despite my negative experience with the sushi, I would recommend trying the house saki.

If you're craving Japanese cuisine, this place is a must-visit. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a delightful oceanic scent in the air. Sit at the sushi bar for a front-row seat to watch the skilled chefs craft each dish with precision and artistry. The waitstaff at SUBI are attentive, friendly, and ensure you feel like a VIP.
