Capri Bakery - Ayer

This local bakery, cafe, and restaurant offers a variety of freshly baked pastries and pizzas. They also have a selection of savory items, cakes, and hot soups, as well as fresh coffee. The owner is friendly and welcoming. They offer day-old pizzas for only $1, which is a great deal. However, some of the cakes may not be fresh. I tried a slice of chocolate raspberry cheesecake and found the cake to be hard and stale, as if it had been sitting for a few days.

The pastries were visually appealing, earning a star for appearance. However, they were only okay to eat, being stale and lacking flavor. I really wanted to like them! Unfortunately, there is a large shrine to Trump in the restaurant. It's hidden unless you turn around, but it's there. If you're not looking for a surprise (or should I say Trump scare), it's best to stay away. I just came for pastries, not political reminders.

I wanted a really fancy birthday cake, and this was the 2nd bakery I went to that didn't have cakes avaliable. It's my fault for not ordering ahead, though, and wanting this on a whim.I was going to try somewhere else, but I was told here that there actually was one for sale.. pretty basic, but it was a birthday cake, so I bought it... it was so old, it was completely dry throughout the cake, and the frosting was starting to get a thickened outer layer. I was very disappointed when I got home and attempted to eat my birthday cake as it was not edible. I would have preferred honesty that they didn't have anything available instead of selling me a super old cake!Giving it 2 stars cuz they were friendly, but the fact that someone even attempted to sell that cake is baffling and disappointing.

I had a raspberry bramble for the first time in a couple of years and it was excellent!! Everything I try from this bakery leaves me wanting more. Yum!
