Delicious Malaysian cuisine we visited this restaurant on recommended our apartment host and had a great meal. we ordered the curry leaves king prawns and the healed fish and both were surprisingly delicious. the portions were very generous and the prices were very reasonable.
We arrived at 4:30 PM for our reservation at 6:00 PM, and the restaurant was seemingly fully booked. However, by 6:30 PM, it was evident that many tables remained unoccupied, with only a handful of guests present. The tables were adorned with flashy napkin folding, which felt more reminiscent of a low-end establishment from the 1960s. I was particularly eager to try the nasi goreng but was disappointed to find it bland and tasteless, with a strange odor that reminded me of a damp dishcloth. It lacked spice and warmth, despite being served within the suggested 15 minutes. The only potential redeeming aspect might have been the shrimp, but they seemed undercooked and lacked freshness. The Singapore noodles had a very mild flavor, with the noodles themselves being merely average and containing some almost raw shrimp. This was not what one would expect from a high-priced restaurant. The chicken satay skewers were overcooked, and the dipping sauce was served cold in a separate plastic container, barely warm to the touch. While the taste wasn't entirely off, it certainly fell short of expectations. Overall, there seems to be a lack of understanding about Malaysian cuisine, whether from the chef or management. I recall enjoying much better Malaysian food back in the 1970s. It's surprising that a restaurant in this century would struggle with this type of cuisine. The prices are on the higher end of average, which makes the poor quality even more disappointing. The "fully booked" claim felt like a tactic to give the impression of popularity, which, in my opinion, is misleading. We will not return to this restaurant; the food was truly unsatisfactory. I've had better meals at average takeout places. Furthermore, the restaurant has a 3-star health score displayed at the entrance, indicating low hygiene standards. This certainly explains the unpleasant smell. It's strange that they would openly show this score, perhaps they are unaware of its implications. While they may have some other dishes that are better, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this place. Given the positive reviews it has received, I am baffled. My suggestion: don't bother visiting until they are willing to address their food quality issues.
That was a last minute decision, as I only wanted kapitan prawns. allmalay has now become my favorite Asian restaurant on the central coast. we will definitely be back and already have our friends. yummo!
One of the best restaurants on the coast cannot say u a bad dish we had.
