I’m so glad we discovered it! The gourmet dishes were absolutely delicious, and the waitress was friendly and attentive. Since I have to visit Miami for work once a month, I plan to dine here every time and will definitely recommend it to my friends and business associates.
I've tried Mexican food from California to Miami, and unfortunately, this restaurant doesn't meet expectations. The margaritas were $8.00 each, and I found my fajitas, priced at $15.50, to be quite disappointing—overcooked, with small sides and tortillas. My wife ordered the Arrachera Campesina for $17.95, and once again, the portions were lacking. We also tried the Chocolate Quesadilla for $7.25; it was decent but overpriced for what we received. Our total bill came to $56.70, not including tax or tip, which I feel should have been under $40. I'm willing to pay for both quality and quantity, but sadly, this place offers neither.
I called this evening to check how late they served dinner, as I had guests who were craving Mexican food. I attempted to reach them a couple of times, but there seemed to be an issue with my phone, and we ended up getting disconnected. The person I spoke with called me back, but was extremely rude. I informed her that not only would I not be dining there tonight, but given my past experiences, I would ensure that I never step foot in their restaurant again due to the unprofessionalism of the person who answered the phone.
Cheen Huaye offers Southern Mexican cuisine particular to the Yucatan, and actually means “Only Here” in Mayan. I have been there several times, and the tacos and tostadas were always moist, seasoned perfectly, and just the right amount of food. The red wine Sangria Cheen Hauye has a particular flavor original to the restaurant, which finishes with a hint of cinnamon… it sounds funny, but actually works. My favorite dish is the Cochinita Pibil Cheen Huaye a classic Yucatecan dish, tastes just like a classic baked and simmering pork dish that a grandmother would cook… tender pork marinated in recado rojo (almost like a Mexican paprika thin sauce), served over plantain leaves and covered with shredded marinated red onions absolutely delish! The flautas are moist, intricately seasoned and authentically flavored. Tacos Mexicanos Cheen Huaye What I LOVE is that if you are looking for a really spicy kick (sometimes you have to live a little) the chef prepares a homemade marinated habanero pepper that is out of this world! Perfect on any of the dishes offered (except for the banana icecream enchiladas).
If you 're for authentic Mexican food you really need to eat there. Great atmosphere, the Cochinita Pibil is awesome!!! Good variety of Mexican beers. Great place to go and celebrate 5 de Mayo!!! Viva Mexico!!!
