Cafe Bolide - Aveiro

Really good surprise ! This family restaurant is really clean and the Portuguese food is delicious. Everything is homemade with fresh and high quality products ! We took the Francesinha and it was the best we ever tried in two weeks in Portugal (Even compared with the Francesinha taken in Porto which is supposed to be the best... La Meilleur Francesinha que nous avons pu goûter en deux semaines au Portugal ! Restaurant très propres et des produits frais de très bonne qualité. A tester absolument ;

On arrival in Aveiro at lunchtime we booked into the Aveiro Palace and then found this little gem behind it. Lovely snacks and warm welcome. In the evening we looked at restaurants around the fish market but were not impressed by the menus or the prices. We came upon the Bolide again which was open and although not many people in we were welcomed into the dining room where we had a superb meal for around 12 Euros each plus a wonderful bottle of Dao red wine for 6.50 Euros! Nothing was too much trouble for the couple who run this place and although not haute cuisine it was delicious local food,well cooked and well presented. If this is what is classed as going native then I 'm all for it!
