The Good Home Howick - Auckland

We came here when they first opened and I haven 't been back since as we had such a poor experience.  I 'm not a huge fan of the new (now old) decor and it just seems a bit kitsch.  The dining room is 'out the back ' and I think it is easy to forget the dining guests.  However I have had a lunch there a few times over the last few months and it is ...OK.  The service is usually friendly and there is usually a special on the menu to add interest.  The food is not adventuresome and I 'm still not convinced I would want to pay their evening prices but for a quiet meal and a wine...it 's worth a try.

Superb service.  Awesome food.  Cozy restaurant.  Chef's quality is out of this world.  I had the chicken and it was divine.  My partner had the steak and it was also wonderful.  We had a free dessert the night we went and it was sensational.

I've been here before many times, service is really kind and they do make an effort, food can be better for the restaurant but the Pub food here is quite good especially platters for sharing, garlic pizza bread and steak sandwich are a must, they go really well with the good selection of NZ beer and wine they have, family friendly and perfect spot to relax, nice and cosy in winter and sunny and fresh in summer, besides if you like history; not many places in NZ you can say you are having a beer on the same spot where the only person that have received an Oscar and a Nobel prize in literature resided: George B Shaw

Marvellous! Comfortable, well designed, great food, lovely staff! Worth checking out. Had Nachos and Beer on the deck, lovely!! Will be back
