Carpe Vino - Auburn

For appetizers, we had the brussels sprouts, calamari, tempura squash, and cauliflower soup. My favorite was definitely the brussels sprouts. For our main courses, we ordered the bacon-wrapped quail (which was a bit too loose, but the flavors blended wonderfully) and the ravioli. We topped it all off with panna cotta, which was simply amazing. In total, we also bought a bottle of wine to take home, enjoyed eight individual glasses of wine, and had two mezcal cocktails, all for about $220. Considering everything, that was a great value!

I had a delightful dinner with friends last night. My pork dish was cooked to perfection and could be sliced with a butter knife. Everyone else enjoyed the sea bass and raved about it. The suggested wine paired beautifully with the fish. It was a very enjoyable evening at Carpe Vino.

The pork chop was incredibly moist and flavorful, especially for such a thick cut! The oysters and fig appetizers were also fantastic! Highly recommended.

I've been enjoying Carpe Vino for many years. Consistently good food. I am a member of the wine club and look forward to great selections. Last night had the unfornutate experience with service. The waiter ignored my table while he sued service and went in long conversations with table next to me. Had to ask the hostess to wait for the soup after at least 15-20 minutes. She was attentive and replaced another waiter, Alian, who did a great job with humor and great service. My point - we all deserve the same service, no matter how our wine order (they ordered expensive bottle and I just a glass. 1/3/19-I was contacted by the co-owner and sent a message. I would like to express my appreciation for his attention to my experience and also highlight the appropriate and excellent service of Alain and Patti. These individuals have shown how bad experience can be addressed and made more positive. Also want to add that food is always superior.

Excellent, locally sourced and excellently prepared cuisine, and great, friendly knowledgeable service, with a 5 star wine list, even by the glass, which is a rarity even in the best restaurants in the area. My only complaint is if something doesn't seem as described on the menu, there is no trust that something may have gone wrong in the kitchen and this leaves the customer feeling unheard and untrusted. Fortunately, these issues are minor, and the food is still superb, but you get the sense the chef is arrogant and not willing to possibly be wrong...my guess is he will never get a Michelin star with this attitude...plus, we we are long term wine club members and that doesn't seem to matter which tells you even more about the way things are run there. With all that said, all we hope is that this honest review opens someone's eyes and tries to correct what is otherwise the best restaurants and wine bar/club in the area!
