We were seated in the sun room and the view out over Lough Ree was lovely. A little cramped as tables were very close to eachother, you could hear other conversations. Staff were very attentive throughout and made sure we had everything we needed.
I booked Afternoon Tea at the Wineport for my sister's birthday and it was definitely an amazing experience. Firstly when I booked it I was asked if it was a special occasion which I thought was really nice. We were seated in the area with a stunning view of the lake. The table was laid beautifully and they had some birthday decorations on the table as well as a sign saying happy birthday to my sister which I thought was so special. I had asked that one portion of afternoon tea be served without ham/bacon as my sister is Muslim and they double checked this again before bringing out our order. When they brought the afternoon tea it had a sparkler on top which was a lovely touch. My sister felt very special. The afternoon tea itself was delicious and we enjoyed everything. Amazing experience and would definitely recommend to others.
From the moment we arrived till the moment of departure we were treated like royalty in a warm friendly way. Had we asked for the moon I'm sure they would have had a lasso on standby. The lodge is a pure sanctuary of beauty, peace and harmony. I can't say enough about this place, from the complimentary glass of prosecco to the indulgent chocolate bar and just in case you fancied something savoury a complimentary packet of keoghs crisps. The meal was out of this world. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night's stay in our incredible room with breathtaking view s of the Lake. I can't recommend The Wine Port Lodge enough.
The staff are very young very inexperienced. We were seated offered a drinks menu only, then left for about 15mins ignored. No food menu. Had to prompt the staff for a menu so we could order. Our drinks order was forgotten. The food was sub standard truly, it was shockingly disappointing. We were not checked on to see if we needed anything, drinks, etc. We were left waiting for over 10 minutes for the portions of veg while our cold, dried out food got colder drier. The staff were very poor, despite there being many there. Cut our losses, sent back the dried up main cousrse decided to leave. The toilets were untidy smelt foul. The place felt like it was an abandoned restaurant that some kids found took over. A rudderless ship. Who is in charge?? €60 for 3 starters. No value. A.V.O.I.D. Will not he back. Ever.
I absolutely adore The Wineport. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff, from the bartender to the servers. The roast dinner was fantastic and the trio of desserts was delightful. Since it was Mother's Day, we even received a little box of chocolates when we left.
