Chocolate Fetish - Asheville

I love chocolate. I've never met a ganache I didn't like...till now. The ganache lacked any substance. No flavor except a strong fake flavor of orange which was supposed to mimic grand marnier. Seriously , the most most bland chocolate I've eaten in a long time. That went with the attitude of the girl who served it.

First, I want to say that I visited all the most popular chocolate shops in Asheville (Asheville Chocolate, French Broad Chocolate Lounge, and this place) and these had to be thrown away. I bought 7 of the ecstasy chocolates and they all tasted the same with VERY, VERY subtle differences in flavors. They all pretty much just tasted of a chocolate ganache. If these were the ecstasy chocolates, I 'd assume all the ones that are not are total garbage: 5/7 of the ones purchased were total garbage and the other 2 were ok, but not even good enough to eat... they all went in the trash. I hate to say this, but when I saw online that this shop belongs to an elderly couple I thought that they might be making old school chocolates that don 't hold up to what chocolatiers nowadays are doing and I was completely right. They say that the ecstasy line of chocolates are European style but they are not, they are American style. I 've been to Switzerland and France and have had actual European truffles and this is definitely not it. This shop doesn 't understand how to incorporate different flavors into ganaches and on top of that the shells of the chocolate that go on the outside around the ganaches are very thick. Anyone that knows anything about chocolates knows that the art is in not only making flavorful chocolates, but also about keeping the outer shell thin so that you actually get to enjoy the ganache inside. Go to Asheville Chocolate or French Broad if you 're not a fan of throwing your money away.

Amazing truffles. You can't go wrong. I do wish there was some discount getting a box versus individual but I enjoyed the caramel ganache.

Great chocolate! The truffles and caramels were delicious! The chocolate itself was not the best I have ever had but was okay. Overall they were good and not overpriced. Oh

This shop has some amazing selections from truffles to candy bars. The flavor of each one is so well done. I enjoyed the cashew clusters and the peanut butter delight truffles. Definitely would comeback if I go back to Asheville.
