フィードバックを提供するThe Tuckshop in Hendra is fantastic, it's a beautiful space with awesome artwork and a great menuI had smashed avo with corn bread and black beans.
I have just finished my two fried eggs with toast and a mocha from The TuckshopOverall it was an enjoyable experience.
Really enjoyed my breakfast at the tuck shop. The food was lovely and the interior is done beautifully. I will definitely be back. They also use fonzie Abbott coffee which is divine.
Good location and really good service. Love the lay out of this cafe. Pretty damn good flapjacks (only for a sweet tooth though)- I get them every time and absolutely love them (probably the best ive ever had to be honest). Other breakfast options are good too. Lunch menu needs a little work I think (with a greater variety). Perhaps some salads in the window rather than just on the menu? Good coffee, good food, good location, brilliant set up. Sometimes hard to park but just go to the back streets and it's only a short walk
The Tuckshop is a cute little restaurant on a corner along green, leafy Gerler Road. I had been here a few times previously and suggested it to a friend for a lunch date. My previous visits had been weekenders, whereas this was a Tuesday so it was far less crowded and we were able to sit in the beautiful outdoor dining area in the back. My dining companion went for the salt cod fritters and bruschetta, whilst I instantly decided on the pumpkin, haloumi, mushrooms, farro and chard. And, fine we split a bowl of chips to – what of it? We had already ordered drinks – a lemon, lime and bitters for my friend and sparkling for me – and they came out promptly enough. Bellies rumbling, we began surreptitiously checking the time on our phones our looking around for the waitress. After about twenty minutes, the cheerful waitress finally appeared with our meals (and not a moment too soon) and apologies. No sooner had she bounded away when my friend noticed we didn’t have any cutlery. Ok, so I may have ordered a second glass of wine (it was my day off, don’t judge me) so we figured when she returned we’d ask her for utensils then. Thus began the waiting game. The waitress reappeared about ten minutes later and apologised profusely for the wait. She was so nice that I almost felt bad asking her for some cutlery. More apologies and again off she bounded. This time she was only gone for five minutes and did seem genuinely apologetic about the mishaps. So now the important part: the food. Although the haloumi was a little rubbery and the mushies cold by the time I started eating, I had no real complaints. My friend was less than pleased with her own choices. Her husband is from Holland and she said that the fritters reminded her of fish dumplings she tried and hated on her last visit before commenting that in terms of value for money, she was quite disappointed in our meals. We agreed that the slow service seemed to be due to a lack of staff. I’ll probably eat here again but I’ll choose something different next time, methinks!
