Pappy's Cafe Tavern - Andover

It could use a good deep clean, and the fries always need salt after they come out of the fryer, y'all! Otherwise, the service is fast, food is fantastic, and the price is just right.

Ordered the Pork Chop Dinner and received garbage. The pork chops had absolutely no flavor and were perhaps the tiniest cuts I have ever seen. Along with this you get 1 potato choice, a vegetable they pick and your choice of soup or salad. I chose fries and they arrived so undercooked they were still white. The vegetable is green beans that somehow have less flavor then the water they were boiled in. The soup was OK but came in a bowl so small you would mistake it for a shot glass. With this and a glass of milk(the most favorable part of the meal) my total was almost $20.

This was a first time visit for our family. We were here on a Friday evening for dinner. The service was friendly but slow. Two servers working on the cafe side with the cafe half full. It took about 45 min for us to order and get our food. In general, the food was okay, not too flavorful. The exception was the 10oz. Steak. It was as hard and chewy as a car tire with no flavor. My wife gave up and just stopped trying to eat it. The most annoying part of the experience was the significant number of flies that kept swarming us and our food. I'm not exaggerating. Just at our table alone, we consistently had 2-3 flies swarming us and our food. It was non stop. I watched other diners continuously swat away flies as well. I take writing reviews seriously and don't believe in trolling. Please take a look at my other reviews to see that it's nothing personal here. I just can't recommend Pappy's.

First stop to Pappy's and my guest chose to sit in the bar area for lunch since they had TVs to watch a live sporting event. Bar area was pretty dark and had the feel of a VFW club. On the opposite side noticed the cafe area was much lighter and had a school lunch room look with spacing of tables and chairs. Had their hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and it was very good. Huge helping where the beef must have been stacked at least three inches high! Comfort food at its finest. My guest enjoyed his all meat skillet and commented about the size and taste being positive as well. Shared parking spaces with other businesses in the strip mall area so at times finding a space might be a challenge. Full menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner options and all reasonably priced. If you want good, homestyle cooking and can sacrifice ambiance Pappy's would be a good place to visit.

I went to the cafe side with my kids and mom not long ago. The service was great, the food was excellent and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. I do believe the owner stopped by with a couple quarters for my little ones to put in their vending machines. It made me miss my small hometown from the whole experience. I will definitely be back and recommend to anyone looking for a good homestyle meal with good people.
