Charlou - Anchorage

I had the clam in white wine and garlic butter sauce special, it was great! comes with two in house pockets. my man ordered the charlou ak pasta, but I was not fast enough to get a picture. he the rock fish was a good, gentle balance against the zesty pasta. we recommend the frozen parfait with seasonal apple sauce. incredible!

Amazing! the Nashville style roasted cured was so delicious and the beer/wine list is incredible. I had the most amazing sake with my healbutt sandwich. looks like a good place for groups and also music loves.

I love charlou we have come since their introduction and they have always had an excellent service, a varied and storable bar with tons of fantastic beer, weeping and apple wines. but eating is where it really seems to me. everything is so fresh and done so well. they can really taste the love and be careful that put the cook and kitchen in the food. they not only have a seasonal menu, but also nights where there are live musicians, comedians and performers on the stage. it is a really intimate and beautiful atmosphere and I am so glad to see that they finally get more customers because they earn honestly the business. bonus points for the fact that they are very allergen conscious and vegetarian friendly. here are many great gluten-free/dairy free/meat-free options.

Absolutely delicious! a very welcome addition to the anchorage dining scene. imaginative menu with plates for exchange. the food was nicely prepared and tasteful. the smoked salmon was the best I ever had, everywhere. the same applies to smoked white fish and the server was friendly and very knowledgeable about eating and a relaxing and friendly environment. it is clear that charlou is a place that takes good eating seriously. highly recommended!

Mostly a great experience with a few opportunities to improve. Loved the atmosphere and everyone working there. EXCELLENT wine list and beer selection. We had sparkling Rose and grapefruit sour beer, all excellent. Loved the lemon rice soup very filling. Loved both halibut sandwiches. Could improve kids menu and the pasta. Kids menu: portions were very very small. I know kids are also small but ours can eat a whole steak so we had to order two orders of pasta. Also, the burger is a slider with a crusty bun that is so big a kid can't eat it. I tried scooping out the bread but by that point the kiddo was too upset. The pasta says it's in a light lemon cream sauce the emphasis should be on lemon! Had the lemon been halved I could have eaten more but it was just too overwhelming. I would have liked to taste the garlic! Looks like they might have live bands and they have outside seating. Overall, we really liked it.
