La Storia Della Vita Amsterdam

So a bit of a different story here today. I came to this place pretty much by default, a friend invited me to tackle along to take advantage of a promotion offered by the very popular supermarket chain AH where a number of restaurants offer pretty a buy one get one free deal. I had little to none expectations as from previous experiences, all the set menus offered in similar promotions turned out to be disappointing. I am very glad to say that this former mussels bar, surprised me in a very positive way. The antipasti was good and the second piati or main course, in my case some home made tortellini with a truffled sauce were very very good. The menu also included a dessert, chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream, that despite being simple was nicely done. All in all a recommendable place, with a good menu and a very attentive and friendly staff. I will most definitely ear here again to see if the rest of the menu is of the similar quality as the food I had today!

Tried the 4 course surprise menu. We loved it! Just loved the experience. The sauces really made everything. The porcini ravioli was perfect. The pasta had a nice chew to it. The sauce was perfectly seasoned. The fish was on a bed of sautéed spinach with slivers of garlic. Perfectly seasoned. The semifreddo was an excellent finish. Sweet but not too heavy. Absolute gem! Service was friendly and prompt. You could hear the chef shouting for the staff by name when a dish was plated. It was cute! Establishment was nicely lit. Music was appropriate and not loud. Great ambiance. The entry needs work. You might bang your head on the bars by the door.

What a fabulous place! Excellent food and atmosphere. And for dessert I wanted to try something fun and went for the lemon ice cream with Prosecco and vodka it was magical!
