Oxley Estate Winery - Amherstburg

Whenever I tell people that the winery scene in Southern Ontario is underrated, this is the place that comes to mind with its excellent wines and service! As someone from Detroit who frequently crosses the border to visit, I can say it's an absolute must!

The location is stunning, featuring beautiful gardens that enhance the dining experience. The quality of the food is outstanding, and the wine is exceptional as well!

Charming vineyard! We sampled a white flight and a red flight. Everyone had their favorites and some that didn't quite hit the mark. The covered area featured lovely small tables, making for a pleasant tasting experience, and the glasses were labeled for easy reference. I would have loved to dine there, but they were fully booked in advance. Definitely worth a visit, and don’t forget to bring your camera!

Today, I visited with a group of 8, and our experience was disheartening. The staff treated us very rudely, almost like we were in a prison camp, with hand sprayers and speed testers who were exceptionally unfriendly. I had hoped for a warm experience at Cooper's Hawk, but instead we felt dehumanized. Overall, it was a terrible experience.

It was great to be out again! This was our first dining experience since COVID, and the setup was lovely. It would be nice to see a wider selection on the menu, though.
