Ever since the deli showed up last year, I have had one nearly every week and I have never been anything but impressed. The quality of the sandwich is incredible for the price, The chicken is so tender and the seasoning on it should be the only way people cook chicken because it's incredible. The ingredients are always premium quality. The Chicago style has the most amazing hot giardina on it that you can tell is of the highest quality and my girlfriend can't get enough of the aioli sauce on the paninis, which are made on his fresh brioche (honestly the softest bun I've ever eaten). Every sandwich is hand made by the hardest working guy I have ever seen. He is the most genuine guy and is always willing to have a conversation with you while he crafts his amazing sandwiches. I more than recommend this deli and I tell everyone I can to go and try this deli because once you do you will never go back to those ridiculous sandwich chains. You can't match the quality and service you receive at Gabriel's Deli. He has become a necessary stop for anyone coming through Amherstburg and I know that I will continue to be a weekly customer!
Gabriel himself is charming and very sincere in his wish to please. But I've tried the sandwiches twice and was disappointed twice, and my sandwich from a few days ago was particularly unpleasing. I chose Manhattan, brisket and brioche. Gabriel assured me the meat comes from genuine roasts, but I think he and I are speaking of two different things. Both the corned beef I had the first time and the brisket I had recently had the almost shiny, supers-mooth texture of processed meats, not the shreds of luscious lean meat and fat that we'd enjoy if we roasted a lovely piece of juicy corned beef or brisket ("low and slow, the way to go"). I couldn't taste the garlic aioli, sadly, nor the mozzarella as both seemed buried by the roasted tomatoes, mustard and I forget what else. Frankly, I couldn't even tell you if it was brisket or corned beef I was eating. But the brioche was excellent, and a good-sized vehicle for the under-performing ingredients, although $10 for a sandwich by itself kinda added to the unfortunate experience. I understand I don't have to worry about this review affecting business as Gabriel has people lined up out the doors. I disliked my sandwich so much that I gave the other half to someone and when I said where I'd got it, she replied happily, "Oh, they make good sandwiches!" I so wish I could love the food at Gabriel's as much as everyone else in town - Gabriel is SUCH a hard-working, friendly chef/owner and I do wish him the best. Well, next time I'll try a panini - maybe third time's the charm.
My wife and I stopped in this week after hearing all the "hype" about how good it is.. Well, IT IS!!!!! The BEST hands down for Deli sandwich's. We were fortunate to meet the Owner, and he is a REALLY hard working dedicated guy. They were a bit pricey, but well worth it, as everything was fresh, and is prepared in front of you while you wait. I would easily give this little Deli a 5/5, nd we will definitely be back!Mike
My boyfriend and I stopped in here today for a terrific smoked meat sandwich. The garlic aioli sauce is terrific and everything was super fresh. My man also loved the fattoush salad. The owner was very nice too. It is a small establishment but it would be worth the wait. A great new spot for Amherstburg!
Great deli. Very popular. Sometimes you need to wait a bit because it is so popular and is a smaller place however plan on ordering then going to bank/errands and come back for your order. My husband orders all sorts of their sandwiches. I love the walnut salad with chicken or the fattoush salad with chicken. A go to for a quick and healthy meal. Friendly owners make me proud to support them and glad they're in town! Great addition!
