Cattleman's Cafe - Amarillo

Had the chicken fried steak. Made in house. Would do it again. Gravy was excellent. Subbed the potatoes for beans. Gave this place a 5 rating because 4.1 is way off Route 66 history vibes are palpable. Looking forward to hitting breakfast here. Breakfast served 24hrs!

This place was SKETCHY. It’s the diner portion of a dive bar in a bad part of town. Sat where I could see my car the whole time and noticed there were multiple bullet holes in the front windows. The place seemed clean enough inside, but the tables were sticky to the touch and some of the booths had torn upholstery. The waitress was nice enough, but she forgot to bring a fork with my meal.

Blonde lady at counter said she has worked there over 40 years but was very rude. Food was luke warm. A few flies but ok. I did not like the dead roaches that we saw in the corner. By then we were already eating. Felt sick. Would never go back. Family vacation nightmare?

A very enjoyable experience. Feels like America I knew growing up good service and tasty food. Also smoking is allowed!

Food is fantastic. Right on Route 66 and definitely a spot we would return to. We ordered the Green Chile Swiss Burger and the Chicken Fried steak with mashed potatoes. Do not pass this place up!
