Casa do Rio Restaurante - Alvor

We came here for lunch after a long walk around the estuary and enjoyed a very relaxed long lunch.... well cooked food and lovely wine. Friendly waitor provided great service. And an amazing view to top it all off! Fab!

A beautiful view overlooking the sea setting the scene for a gasrtronomic treat of pure excellence. The staff struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us our own space. Deborah was mad for the homemade sardine starter with a twist and my lamb cutlet main with salted potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots was perfectly cooked. A fantastic contrast to our meal the previous night at Gastropub 13 (please refer to my previous review). I recommend that G 13's management team goes to Casado do Rio to witness good food combined with good food and efficient but unatrusive management which was reflected in the high level of service provided. The fish and steak meals are a must if that is your preference, but their menu caters for most tastes, plus the portions are generous, the food is served hot, all at once and over the 5 years we have been going to this excellent restaurant an order has never been declined on the basis they have run out.

We have visited Casa Do Rio regularly over the last few years. We were in Alvor again last week and booked an outside table with great views at this restaurant on two occasions. Food and drinks excellent, staff very hardworking and friendly and this restaurant will be at the top of our list on our next visit to Alvor.

We visited Casa Do Rio as previously it had been one of our favourites not now! I had specifically booked an indoor table by the window. When taken to the table it was outside, I said I had booked an indoor table, they didn't see what the issue was. I explained that with elderly parents who feel the cold i had wanted an inside table not a difficult request but one they could not oblige even though it ad been stated at the time of booking. That really set the scene then we were ignored whilst others came in after us and were made to feel like second class citizens. When we were eventually asked what food we would like yo order we pointed out we would actually like to order some drinks. My starter of s selection of cheeses was hard dried cheese with hard bread. When I havd ordered this before it came with honey and butter. When the steaks came out the waitress kept insisting the fillet was a sirloin and vice versa and kept putting green plates in front of the wrong orders, to save an issue we just waited till she left and swapped plates. When I went to the toilet I witnessed a kitchen staff microwave what looked like garlic bread and it did not look very hygienic how the food was being handled! Overall the experience was awful, uncomfortable and a real let down, one of the first times I have never left a tip Will never go back!
