Top Shelf Grill - Ainsworth

My family and I were in Columbus Junction visiting and our friends suggested we eat at Top Shelf. The service and food were great. I am from Phoenix so I was pleasantly surprised with the restaurant. It is very clean. Though the decor is minimal it's comfortable and modern. The staff is personable and professional. For an appetizer we had the onion rings. They were delicious. The breading was perfect on them. I ordered the grill salad, salmon and Parmesan mashed potatoes. It was delicious! The cinnamon roll that was included was the perfect finish. We enjoyed our meal as a family and we will definitely come back when we are in town again.,

This looked like a nice place . But the waitress did not have a personality at all.. and when I opened the menu I was shocked with the prices... Was going to have a steak but decided to have a burger because I was not spending $30 on a steak.. and the special was ham balls for 15.99. wow! Are we in Chicago or small town Iowa. I hope they do not pice them selves out of business. My burger was not bad but I have had better. My wife had a grilled tenderloin. It was dry and over cooked. Hope they get it right soon hate to see them fail...

My second visit was for a family gathering after Christmas, where we were easily accommodated for a party of 12. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the new Gin Buckets were a hit. The service was great, and there were no issues with our bill despite the larger party size. On my third and fourth visits, I again sat in the bar area and received friendly and prompt service. I tried the grilled cheese, which had an upscale twist and was really good. The nightly cocktail specials, like the $3 peach martini, were popular with everyone in the restaurant. Overall, my experiences at Top Shelf Grill have earned them 5 stars. The food has always been excellent, and I have consistently received great service no matter where I have sat in the restaurant. This restaurant is a wonderful addition to the Ainsworth area, and I highly recommend stopping by for dinner or a drink.

Brand new restaurant in Ainsworth at the site of the old John's Shamrock. It's opening night tonight, the restaurant isn't even a quarter full. It took an hour to get our food. They brought out our kids cookie that came with his meal before he got his meal. If you have kids you know how that turns out. They didn't time the food to come out at the same time, bringing each person's out separately and bringing my fries about five minutes after my sandwich. The tenderloin was good, but came with no garnish except a warm leaf of lettuce on the side. My wife had the ham ball, it was good but served just above room temperature. My wife had cornbread as a side and said it was delicious. They tried too hard on the kids grilled cheese, it had a mixture cheeses and was grilled with mayonnaise instead of butter. My kid would have preferred something simpler. The drinks were served in small glasses requiring numerous refills, the problem is that the wait staff would walk by without offering a refill, you had to ask each time. The iced tea was served without ice and I had to ask for a separate cup of ice They overcharged us by about twelve dollars. Even after fixing the bill the prices were too high to justify the quality of the food. I'll come back again after they've been up and running to see if it's gotten any better, if not, I won't be coming back again.

The reviews for this restaurant were so outstanding that I had to experience it for myself. I visited on a Friday night around 8PM and was pleased with the food, which was good. The service was fast, friendly, and professional, and the prices were average. Despite being in a small town, the costs of running a business remain high due to suppliers charging the same or possibly higher prices for their products. Businesses in small town Iowa also face the same expenses for taxes, insurance, utilities, and wages, which can be even higher in remote areas. We often dine out late, and while post-rush times can sometimes lead to tired staff, we didn't feel neglected or mistreated at all. Overall, we had a positive experience and will definitely return to try more dishes.
