However, the other hotel's pool is poorly maintained and very small. When I wanted to take the shuttle my first day, I came 5 min late and they told me that I could not go since the shuttle had apparently left and I would have to pay to enter the pool if I took a cab. I later found out that there was no shuttle that went to the other pool that day. The next day, I came much ahead of time but I had to way 50 min to take the shuttle to the pool but was disappointed by it. Reception staff are kind of rude Food is highly overpriced. The buffet options don't change much by the day, lunch and dinner are similar in menu. The food is also not great for the excessive price you pay. I would suggest eating elsewhere. The worst part is breakfast brunch doesn't include coffee(!!! . This has never happened in any international restraint I have been in before. Please bring an adapter for power outlets
Oh! Their place was very serene and nice. I've been hearing a lot about that hotel so for me to go there and clearly see things for myself infact I was awwsh.
I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is somewhat centrally located to most places you'd like to visit if you're visiting Ghana with family. We enjoyed their food, both local Ghanaian dishes and others. The wakye is truly fantastic, good for people with large appetites as it comes with little sides of pasta, salad, and fried plantain. The apple pie is nice, too, but pretty small. It's a desert anyway. Breakfast was good. It had a decent variety that can be improved on. I stayed here for 4 nights, and yam was only served once. The pool is always clean, sometimes even warm. There's a tennis court and a trainer who can train you once you book a time ahead. Fun fact: The Ghanaian tennis trainer trained and lived in Nigeria for over 20 years.
Loved it specially the waiters customer service was .. but still the rooms needs improvement.
My relationship with the Accra City Hotel (formerly The Novotel goes way back. In 2010, while living in Ghana, I was invited to be a guest coach at a local basketball camp held at one the city’s most prestigious private schools. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning from some bad Waakye, and ended up being infirmed for several days at Ridge Hospital. Eventually, once discharged I booked a room at the Novotel, where an in-house doctor took excellent care of me. 12 years later, I was once again in Accra, this time with friends, who were visiting Ghana for the first time. When one started to feel ill, I quickly made the decision to book rooms at the Accra City Hotel. As my friend recuperated our stay extended from one night to two, to three…to six, in large part due to how remarkably comfortable hotel is. During our stay, we were thoroughly impressed with the recent renovations, the helpfulness/friendliness of the staff, and the quality of the food and drink at the bar (did I mention they have Club on draft?! . Going forward for any future return trips to Ghana, there is no doubt that I will be staying at the Accra City Hotel.
