My family and I had a meal here just recently. We first visited the Bistro on Father’s Day 2016, it was quite full. It was an OK experience for the first time. Now to the second and definitely last visit. It wasn’t a busy night (7 tables with 2 to 4 at the table). We had a larger number (12) so we pre-booked. We were told it would be a 40 minutes, it turned into 1 hours 15 minutes and we still had to go up for the missing ordered sauces. Other people waited up to 2 hours for incomplete, incorrect or uneatable meal. They ran out of Barramundi (forgot to order it). I ordered the beer battered fish with chips & salad. The fish was dry, the batter not nice, chips ok and the salad was almost only lettuce. I got sick within 1 hour of finishing my meal. My son ordered his rump state Medium-rare but it was well done. My partner ordered a well done stake, his was crispy. My daughter-in-law and granddaughter’s chicken schnitzel was chewy and didn’t taste nice (house special of the night). If you wanted mash potato & vegetables you had to pay an additional $3.00 for the size of a table spoon potion. When the Bistro was question on the small potions they said it is weighed. My other daughter-in-law’s chicken parmigiana wasn’t nice & the parmigiana sauce had pineapple in it. The other grandchildren had chips and chicken nuggets. All in all most of what we ordered went to waste due to it being uneatable. Oh but the best is to come. To top the night off we were charged $53.50 for Vodka & OJ, Schooner Beer and Bourbon & Coke. After 3 attempts of telling the bartender that price is wrong she finally looked at the order of the screen and said she accidently added our order to the previous order of two jugs of coke. Just as I was leaving I heard her charge a person $15.50 for Jack Daniels & Coke. When I tried to ask two questions while she was cleaning the tables, she was & just walked away. Never will we return
You must try the home made rissoles. They are absolutely delicious. The restaurant is open, clean and comfortable. There is also outdoor seating.
We ate here on a Monday, when the $31 surf and turf is reduced to $10. The food was poor at best and the atmosphere was worse. I would recommend any of the surrounding clubs over this hotel.
Five adults and three children visited the restaurant and three of us tried the Beetroot Salmon Salad. The salmon pieces were overcooked, tough, and salty, so we sent the meals back uneaten. Despite our complaint, there was no response from the staff. It seems that the restaurant should focus on traditional dishes like Schnitzel and burgers and leave the fancier items to more skilled chefs.
