Due to snow covering the area, I couldn't see the deck or floor of the venue, but I made my decision based on the online pictures I had viewed. Nick assured me that we would meet 4 to 5 times before the wedding. However, our next meeting was in February 2020, at which point I paid him an additional $7,000 for food and drinks. After that, he failed to contact me for further meetings. As June 2020 approached, I became anxious since my wedding was set for September and COVID-19 restrictions were complicating everything. I reached out to him multiple times via call and email, but didn't hear back for an entire month. When my fiancé tried to call his business number, it just went to an unconfigured voicemail. Nick finally returned my call in July 2020. When I visited the venue, I was horrified. The bar and deck were completely gone, the boards were falling apart, and the place was filthy. I took pictures to document everything. It looked nothing like it did a year prior. There were no fresh flowers, and the grass looked burned. When I expressed my concerns about the presentation, Nick reassured me that everything would be done beautifully for my wedding, which was just two months away. However, with the ongoing spread of COVID-19, I decided to cancel my wedding for that year. I informed him about my decision and requested a refund. While we lost the $1,500 deposit, I was told I would receive a check for $750 within a week and the remainder in installments over the following two months. I documented our agreement and signed it, but a week later, I still hadn’t received anything. In my search for answers, I discovered troubling information about him. Nick appears to have moved to Madison, and I learned from other brides that they had similar unfortunate experiences with him. My research revealed that he has a troubling history, with over 20 court cases against him, which indicates a pattern of unreliable behavior. He claimed he couldn’t issue a refund right away because he was using the money to pay his 2019 real estate taxes. Yet, court records show that he hasn't paid taxes since 2017 and owes over $10,000. I wish I had been aware of this information beforehand. I asked him directly to refund my money, warning him that I’d pursue legal action if necessary, but he didn’t respond. I genuinely hope this review helps others avoid the mistakes I made. If you’re considering using Nick Kustala's services, I urge you to think twice.
For appetizers, we had mussels that were, without a doubt, the best we've ever tasted. The Lobster Bisque and Black Truffle Soup were truly exceptional, too. The main course featured a generously sized fillet, cooked perfectly medium-rare, accompanied by scallops, roasted Brussels sprouts, and risotto topped with an exquisite sauce—absolutely fantastic! For dessert, we indulged in red velvet cake and a delightful three-layer mousse. What an incredible experience!
By June 2020, I was stressed because our wedding was scheduled for September, and COVID-19 had impacted everything. I reached out to him for weeks with no response. When he finally returned my call in July, I was horrified to see the venue. The bar and deck had been removed, the boards were in disrepair, and the place was filthy. There were no fresh flowers or mulch; the grass was burnt. I expressed my concerns, but Nick reassured me that everything would be perfect for my wedding in two months. A week later, I felt uneasy about the COVID situation and decided to cancel my wedding. When I informed him about the cancellation, he said I would not get my $1,500 deposit back, but I could expect a refund of $7,200. He promised that I would receive a check for $750 within a week and the rest in installments over the following months. I documented our agreement and signed it. However, a week passed with no check. I started digging deeper and discovered some troubling information about him. He's based in Madison and has been linked to numerous complaints from other brides who felt cheated. Court records show he has over 20 cases against him, and he is the defendant in all of them. He claimed he couldn’t refund me immediately because he had to pay his real estate taxes from 2019, yet records indicate he hasn’t paid taxes since 2017 and owes over $10,000. I wish I had known all of this beforehand. I urged him to do the right thing and refund my money, but he ignored me. I hope this message serves as a warning to others before they do business with him. Nick Kustala is a scam artist, and I strongly advise against working with him.
