I also had the side of broccoli and asparagus, it was pretty much plain and boring even they say they put soy sauce. Make sure to call before going as they do not currently have the vegan menu, august 2020. The staff were kind, helpful and understanding.
Went there following positive online reviews. The places looks amazing and the staff seemed good enough, the food on the other end I could have done with better. I decided on the plant based burger, it was a small slice of lettuce, a small slice of tomato on top of a creamy coconut sauce (not sure about that either) with a patty half a standard size in a large seeded bun for £12.50, no vegan mayo available. Expensive and small, my friend went for the nut roast as a veggie, same story.
Has a seperate vegan menu with delicious food. Staff were great. Great range of drinks. The back yard was beautiful to sit in. Had a really lovely time and couldn't fault a thing.
The village has undergone quite a transformation over the past 20-30 years, and the pub has evolved along with it—it's a sign of progress. It still has the capacity to accommodate a large number of guests and offers a respectable selection of beers. Once known for being a bit cliquish, it now successfully welcomes motorists and tourists alike. Its location is convenient for visitors coming from the A24 and Billingshurst Road. We enjoy returning there as it holds many fond memories of the old village. It's definitely worth checking out the food, which is decent, though you might experience a wait on busy days.
The focus here seems to be heavily on food, with a large menu that includes the Sunday roast platters as an additional offering. The extensive nature of the menu raised some concerns for me, as I believe that kitchens can usually handle only about five or six dishes cooked to order without compromising quality. We had made a reservation, but despite the bustling atmosphere on a Sunday lunchtime, many tables were still available. The roast platters appeared to be a popular choice, looking quite enticing for those who enjoy a large serving of food. I chose the haddock, chips, and mushy peas, which came with tartare sauce and a small bowl of ketchup. The fish was fairly fresh, and the batter was nice and crispy. However, the chips left much to be desired; they would have been better described as roast potatoes. They were acceptable but not what you expect when ordering fish and chips. Both ladies opted for the fish cakes, served with a salad and crème fraîche dip on the side. Their feedback was that it was okay but somewhat bland and uninteresting. The beer selection was standard, but my pint of Sussex was perfectly fine. The other patrons were a mix of locals, including several large family groups and a few couples. Overall, this is not a pub I would go out of my way to return to, primarily due to its lack of atmosphere and general blandness. If you're driving, I’m sure you can find better options nearby. I’d rate it about 3 stars.
